Reading this article makes me understand why news is so important because if we did not know this, people would be ill and sick and because we do know this, it can be prevented.
The article is set in Beijing, China and has left people coughing in the capital of 20 million. In the inner east of the city at the United States' Embassy have told newspapers that the airborne PM 2.5 particulates have reached 845 micrograms per cubic meter by Saturday afternoon. These fragments, 2.5 diameter or smaller, are very dangerous to our health as they can slip into human tissue, which is very harmful. The toxic air reduced people's vision to only 200 meters and not any further. The air that was in Beijing yesterday was 35 times higher than it should be, according to the World Health Organisation. Readings that are above 100 are considered dangerous to certain groups of people, readings of above 300 are considered an emergency condition.
People have said that the air tasted like burning tires, chemicals and car exhaust and the air caused many people's eyes to hurt and most people stayed indoors, which they thought was safer. They were different perspectives within the United States' Embassy and the Chinese Government, the Embassy putting the reports out there that it was PM 2.5 but the government saying that it was a less dangerous, PM 10.
Latest reports have cleared up our confusion, with the reading at PM 2.5, which is highly dangerous and different places of testing throughout the city have been read as 456 which is well above what is known as an emergency situation. Due to the cold and moist airs, reports have said that this could last until Tuesday. Children have been warned to stay indoors, adults to stop exercising and all citizens to eat more pears and fungus soup.
The difference between the truth and the facts in this article are :
-- the readings that have been taken about the air (fact)
-- what residents have been breathing in and what is was like (truth)
-- how long this could all last (truth)
-- what people have been advised to do about the situation (truth)
I do not think that anything has been made up in this article as I think that it is a serious cause of concern and that it is not something that can be exaggerated because it is a real life emergency situation that is happening.
The there different versions vary in style, design and language by the
digitaljournal.com is more of a relaxed and the reader has to think article whereas the other two articles are more just telling you the facts up front. The design of
theage.com.au and
thestandard.net.au have the same pictures and pretty much the same captions but the other article includes maps and other images.
Hugs.
